A few things that make Luceria candles different.

If you’ve ever burned one of our wood wick candles, you’ve probably noticed a soft crackle, an even burn, and a steady, calm flame. There’s a reason for that, a few, actually.

Whether you’re new to wood wicks or just curious about what sets them apart, here are some simple facts about the kind we use in every Luceria candle.

1. Our wood wicks are FSC-certified and untreated

We use wood wicks made from natural, untreated wood that’s certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). That certification ensures the wood is harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, with long-term sustainability in mind.

There are no chemical coatings or artificial treatments, just clean, raw wood that burns in a controlled and safe way. It’s part of why our candles stay aligned with our values: simple materials, minimal processing, and a focus on creating something that feels good to use.

2. Yes, they crackle

One of the most distinct things about a wood wick is the sound. Ours give off a quiet, subtle crackle that adds to the ambiance of the burn. It’s not loud or distracting, just a soft background detail you may not notice until the room gets quiet.

That small sound is part of what makes burning a Luceria candle feel more intentional. It’s something you experience, not just smell.

3. They’re made to burn evenly

The flat shape of a wood wick allows it to burn in a horizontal line, which helps the wax melt more evenly across the surface. This slows down tunneling and keeps the candle looking clean and balanced through every use.

It’s especially helpful for fragrance throw: an even melt pool allows the scent to disperse more consistently, which means the aroma builds gradually and doesn’t overwhelm the space.

4. Set-up is simple

All Luceria candles are wicked and tested by hand. The wick clip keeps everything centered and secured at the base, so there’s no need for additional tools like wick bars or wooden dowels during production.

Once lit, the flame should stabilize within the first hour. As long as you trim the wick between uses, it will continue to burn smoothly from top to bottom.

5. You don’t need to soak them in anything

There’s a common myth online that wooden wicks should be soaked in oil or wax before being used. We don’t do that and you don’t need to either. Our wicks are meant to be used in their natural state.

In fact, pre-soaking can interfere with how the wick draws wax and lead to an unstable burn. Keeping things simple works better, no extras required. Wood wicks do more than just look nice. They change the pace of the burn, the shape of the flame, and the way a candle sounds while it’s lit.

We use them because they support everything we stand for — minimal, intentional, and naturally calming. If your wood wick candle won’t stay lit, start with a trim. That small step is often all it takes to bring it back to life.
